About this Event

This guided walk traces the former waterfront of St Helier, looking at the period when the sea was Jersey’s main connection with the outside world. Ships carried food, timber, coal, post, travellers, soldiers and merchants to and from the Island, making the harbour and surrounding waterfront central to everyday life.

Led by Remi of the Jersey Tourist Guides Association, the walk explores how maritime activity influenced the growth of St Helier and the people who lived and worked around the waterfront. Participants will follow traces of this history while learning how the area contributed to Jersey’s transition into the modern era.
