The Ornithology Section Meeting offers birders of all experience levels a chance to meet regularly, share sightings, and take part in discussions about local and international birdlife. Meetings are designed to encourage learning, participation, and enjoyment of birdwatching in a welcoming and informal setting.
Held fortnightly on Thursday evenings, sessions begin with a roll call of birds seen during the previous two weeks, followed by conversations on current topics of interest in ornithology. Some meetings also feature talks, slide presentations, or collaborative activities linked to organisations including the RSPB and the BTO.
The group supports field activities and bird recording work across Jersey, while providing an opportunity for members to develop their knowledge and meet others with similar interests. No prior expertise is required, and newcomers are welcome to attend and learn at their own pace.
