The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of the States Assembly will hold its inaugural event on 5 March to mark International Women’s Day.
Established following recommendations from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association after a 2024 gender-sensitive parliament assessment, the Caucus will support and advocate for women parliamentarians, providing a space to share experiences and address challenges in politics.
Current and former women States Members will be joined in the States Chamber by women considering standing in June’s election and invited guests. The public can observe via Microsoft Teams.
Speakers include Welsh Labour politician Joyce Watson, Chair of the Senedd Women’s Caucus, and best-selling author and flexible working campaigner Anna Whitehouse, founder of the Flex Appeal movement and named one of The Independent’s Most Influential Women in 2023.
The event is funded by the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Gender Strengthening Fund.
Coffee will be served from 11.30am, with sandwiches available until 2.00pm.
Doors open at 11.30am.
