Children must remain in school until June 30 of the academic year in which they turn 16.
To fulfil this requirement The States of Jersey operates five non-fee paying secondary schools for pupils aged 11-16.

Entry to Hautlieu is selective through a 14+ entrance exam. There are also four selective fee paying schools at Jersey College for Girls, Victoria College, Beaulieu Convent School and De La Salle College the last two of which are Catholic faith based.
Sixth form education is available for pupils in five of the above schools: Hautlieu; Jersey College for Girls; Victoria College; Beaulieu Convent and De La Salle College. Students entering Jersey at this phase of their education must contact the Education Department to determine their eligibility. Highlands College of Further Education also provides post-secondary level education across a range of subjects.
