About this Event
Join Lou Wagstaffe for a guided walk across the intertidal zone at Green Island. As the tide retreats, the group will explore areas of seabed that are usually covered by water and look for organisms that survive the changing conditions between high and low tide.
The route crosses tidal streams, shallow pools, sand and gravel. Along the way, participants can learn how marine species cope with exposure to air, moving water and rapidly changing temperatures.
Wellies are recommended, particularly during cooler weather, and extra layers may be useful as conditions near sea level can feel colder than expected. A limited range of wellies and waterproof clothing is available to borrow free of charge when reserved during booking.
