This months Cineclub film showing in the Jersey Museum is La plus précieuse des marchandises.
A baby thrown from a train changes the lives of a poor woodcutter and his wife, revealing the best and worst of humanity.
Once upon a time, deep in a vast forest, lived a poor woodcutter and his wife, struggling to survive amid cold, hunger, poverty—and war all around them. One day, the woodcutter’s wife takes in a baby, thrown from one of the many trains that endlessly pass through the forest. Protected at all costs, this child—this fragile ‘parcel’—will profoundly change the lives of the woman, her husband, and everyone whose path it crosses, all the way to the man who threw the baby from the train. Their story will reveal both the darkest and the most compassionate sides of the human heart.
