Liberation 80: A Weekend of Dance and Celebration

Liberation 80 will be a landmark celebration in Jersey, commemorating 80 years since the island's liberation from German occupation during World War II. Dance will take centre stage, uniting the community through music, movement, and a shared sense of history.

From energetic social dances to nostalgic performances that capture the spirit of the era, the Liberation 80 weekend promises a vibrant showcase of rhythm and remembrance. Whether you're an experienced dancer or simply eager to immerse yourself in the festivities, there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate, connect, and embrace the joy of dance.

What's on?

• 8-12th May: Awesome Jersey danceXplosion Line Dance Holiday at the Merton Hotel with a pre-event dance party, four social evenings, and workshops (£229pp for 2 nights, £70 per extra night)

• 9th May (daytime): Free dancing performances and social dancing at Weighbridge Place
  
  9th May (evening): Lindy Hop Jersey’s evening dance at the Pomme d’Or Hotel (Free)

• 10th May (daytime): Beaches & Bunkers sightseeing tour with Lindy Hop Jersey (£40)
  
  10th May (evening): Liberation Dinner & Dance at Best Western Royal (£55) or Jersey Ballroom Social Dance at St. Lawrence Parish Hall (£4-5)

• 11th May: Afternoon Tea Dance at St. Ouen’s Parish Hall with live music from the Jersey Big Band (£15)
